DIAGNOSIS MANUAL SUPPLEMENT FOR DFI AND CCC FUEL SYSTEM

The current level of sophistication in today's vehicles can sometimes make routine diagnosis complicated. Cadillac has and will continue to provide timely diagnostic information to assist service technicians. The new 1982 update looseleaf Service Manual is just one of a number of steps Cadillac has taken to provide dealers with current up-to-date service information.

Throughout the model year, dealers and zone personnel have offered suggestions or proposed improvements in fuel system diagnosis which increase a dealer's efficiency and effectiveness in resolving product conditions. In the past, these ideas have been distributed in Serviceman Bulletins which help, but can sometimes confuse a technician as they move from Service Manual to bulletin copy trying to maintain diagnostic procedure continuity.

In an effort to update each technician's expertise on 1981 DFI and CCC fuel system diagnosis in one single, complete format, a 1981 supplement manual has been developed. The "1981 DFI and CCC Diagnosis Manual Supplement" covers all diagnostic aspects of these two 1981 fuel systems and is intended to supersede that which is included in Section 8-D of the 1981 Cadillac Service Manual. These new manuals will be distributed free to dealers and Craftsman's League members who received 1981 Cadillac Service Manuals and should reach your dealership within the next several weeks.

Please distribute these manuals to all individuals involved in DFI and CCC fuel system service and advise them to utilize this information when performing future service on any 1981 vehicle equipped with either fuel system.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
