A/C SYSTEM EXPANSION TUBE (ORIFICE TUBE) REMOVAL

IN THE EVENT THAT DIFFICULTY IS ENCOURNTERED DURING THE REMOVAL OF A RESTRICTED OR PLUGGED AIR CONDITIONING EXPANSION TUBE (ORIFICE TUBE), THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE IS RECOMMENDED:

1. FOLLOW SERVICE MANUAL PROCEDURE FOR DISCHARGING REFRIGERANT FROM SYSTEM.

2. DISCONNECT LIQUID LINE FROM EVAPORATOR INLET PIPE.

3. REMOVE AS MUCH OF THE IMPACTED RESIDUE AS POSSIBLE.

4. CAREFULLY APPLY HEAT WITH HEAT GUN (HAIR DRYER, EXPOXY DRIER OR EQUIVALENT) APPROXIMATELY 1/4 INCH FROM DIMPLES ON INLET PIPE. DO NOT OVERHEAT PIPE.

NOTICE: IF THE SYSTEM HAS A THEROMSTATIC SWITCH, THE CAPILLARY LINE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM INLET PIPE PRIOR TO HEATING THE PIPE TO AVOID DAMAGE TO SWITCH.

5. WHILE APPLYING HEAT, USE ORIFICE REMOVAL TOOL J26549-C OR NEEDLENOSE PLIERS TO GRIP THE ORIFICE TUBE. USE A TURNING MOTION ALONG WITH A PUSH PULL MOTION TO LOOSEN THE IMPACTED ORIFICE TUBE AND REMOVE IT.

6. SWAB INSIDE OF EVAPORATOR INLET PIPE WITH R-11 OR EQUIVALENT.

7. ADD 1 OZ. OF 525 VISCOSITY REFRIGERANT OIL TO SYSTEM.

8. LUBRICATE NEW ORIFICE TUBE AND "O" RING WITH 525 VISCOSITY REFRIGERANT OIL AND INSERT INTO INLET PIPE. INSTALL IN PROPER DIRECTION (SMALLER SCREEN FIRST.)

9. RECHARGE SYSTEM AND LEAK TEST FOLLOWING SERVICE MANUAL PROCEDURES.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES, USE EXISTING LABOR OPERATION D3200 AT 0.2 HOUR PLUS .5 HOUR TO CHARGE THE SYSTEM. THE TIMES SHOULD BE COMBINED (.7 HOUR) AS LISTED IN THE LABOR OPERATION HOURS COLUMN.
