GR.3E TIRE VALVE CAPS COLORED FOR AUTOMATIC MATCH-MOUNTING ON 1982 CIMARRONS EARLY 1982 CIMARRONS MAY HAVE EITHER CLEAR, GREY, OR DARK COLORED TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEM CAPS WHICH MAY HAVE A VERY FAINT BLUISH TINT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. THESE CAPS HAVE BEEN MOLDED WITH A MATERIAL WHICH FLUORESCES (GLOWS) IN ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT. THIS PERMITS A NEW MACHINE IN THE ASSEMBLY PLANT TO "SEE" THE VALVE CAP SO THAT IT CAN AUTOMAT- ICALLY MATCH THE TIRE HIGH POINT MARK (ALSO FLUORESCENT) TO THE VALVE STEM, WHICH IS AT THE LOW POINT OF THE CIMARRON WHEEL. THIS MATCH-MOUNTING PROCESS IS DONE TO MINIMIZE TIRE AND WHEEL ROAD INPUT. IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT AN OWNER OBJECTS TO THE COLOR, THESE CAPS MAY BE REPLACED WITH STANDARD BLACK CAPS.
GR.6A ENGINE TIMING CHAIN DAMPENER - 1981 4.1 LITER ENGINE (V-6) THE STATIONARY TIMING CHAIN DAMPENER NORMALLY LOCATED TO THE LEFT OF THE TIMING CHAIN ON THE 4.1 LITER ENGINE WAS DISCONTINUED IN PRODUCTION WITH ENGINE BUILD CODE NO. 133. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO INSTALL ONE FOR SERVICE. GR.6B COOLANT SENSOR CONNECTORS COOLANT SENSOR CONNECTORS ARE AVILABLE FROM GMWDD AND LISTED IN GROUP 2.530, P/N 12014843.

ALL 1981 MODEL DIESEL CARS HAVE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK FILTER WHICH WILL PERMIT FUEL TO PASS SHOULD THE TANK FILTER BECOME PLUGGED WITH PARAFFIN WAX DURING COLD WEATHER OPERATION. IF THIS HAPPENS THE LAST FOUR GALLONS OF FUEL WILL NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE TANK DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE CHECK VALVE. CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE ADVISED TO KEEP THEIR TANKS ABOVE THE 1/4 MARK AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 20 DEGREES TO PREVENT RUNNING OUT OF FUEL.

DURING CYLINDER MODE CHANGES (8-6, 804, ETC.) FACTORS THAT CAN AGGRAVATE DETONATION ARE AS FOLLOWS: A. BASIC ENGINE TIMING NOT PROPERLY SET. B. A RESTRICTED VACUUM SIGNAL TO THE EGR VALVE CAUSE BY PINCHED OR KINKED HOSES.
GR.7 VIBRATION - FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES A VIBRATIOIN EXPERIENCED ON ACCELERATION IN SOME FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES MIGHT BE CAUSED BY LOOSE FLEX PLATE TO TORQUE CONVERTER BOLTS. TORQUE TO SPEC. TO CORRECT.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
