1. DIESEL FUEL LINE HEATER SYSTEM - 1979 THROUGH 1982 VEHICLES
THIS BULLETIN UPDATES INFORMATION PUBLISHED IN SERVICEMAN BULLETIN I-81-79 (GROUP 6C) AND DSIB 81-I-46.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FUEL LINE HEATERS
THE DIESEL FUEL LINE HEATER WAS INCLUDED AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON ALL 1982 DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES, THEY WERE ALSO INSTALLED ON THE FOLLOWING 1981 DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES:
"C" 100001-196630 223330-END OF 1981 PRODUCTION (FEDERAL) 222676-END OF 1981 PRODUCTION (CALIFORNIA)
"E" 600001-637903 650795-END OF 1981 PRODUCTION
"K" 680001-790015 705627-END OF 1981 PRODUCTION
THE FUEL LINE HEATERS INCLUDED AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT WERE REFLECTED IN THE STICKER PRICE OF THE CAR.
INSTALLATION OF FUEL LINE HEATERS:
SERVICEMAN BULLETIN I-81-79 AND DSIB 81-I-46 INCORRECTLY STATE THE DIESEL FUEL LINE HEATER SYSTEM KIT CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON 1978-1979 SEVILLES. THE FUEL LINE HEATER KIT CAN BE INSTALLED ON 1979 SEVILLES, AND CAN ALSO BE INSTALLED ON 1978 SEVILLES IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A SERVICE GAS TANK (P/N 1612212).
PLEASE USE THIS INFORMATION TO UPDATE BULLETINS I-81-79 AND 81-I-46.
2. HARD COLD START - DIESEL CARS - NEW PART NUMBER
A MISCELLANEOUS QUICK SERVICE INFORMATION ITEM TITLED HARD COLD START- DIESEL CARS IN SERVICEMAN BULLETIN 81-18, GROUP 11, ADVISED YOU TO INSTALL A STUD, P/N 620979, AS PART OF THE PROCEDURE TO CORRECT A HARD COLD START CONDITION ON DIESEL CARS. THIS PART NUMBER WAS IMPROPERLY SUSPERSEDED BY P/N 376808 WHICH DOES NOT FIT.
WHEN NECESSARY TO INSTALL A STUD, USE P/N 22506338. PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE IN YOUR SERVICEMAN BULLETIN.
3. BINDING INJECTION PUMP METERING VALVE
IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE METERING VALVE ARM ON SOME ROOSA-MASTER INJECTION PUMP TO CONTACT AND BIND ON THE HOUSING AFTER THE HEAD AND ROTOR HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND REINSTALLED. IF THIS CONDITION IS ENCOUNTERED WHEN CHECKING FOR MATERING VALVE FREE MOVEMENT, LOOSEN THE HEAD LOCKING AND HEAD LOCATING SCREWS. ROTATE THE HEAD TO PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR THE METERING VALVE ARM. RE-TORQUE THE SCREWS TO SPECIFICATION, 20-25 N.M (15-18 FT. LBS.).
