GROUP 10 - BODY - MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS

1. CIMARRON DECK LID TORQUE RODS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED

All 1982 Cimarrons built at Janesville between VIN 423710 and 430916 may have rear compartment lid torque rods installed in the reverse position. This will not allow full output of the torque rods, and may not provide enough adjustment and hold-open force.

If the torque rods cannot be adjusted to provide adequate hold-open force, the torque rods must be reversed from right side to left side as outlined below:

1. Raise rear compartment lid and prop open.

2. Remove right and left quarter panel wheelhouse trim.

3. Using tool J-21412 or equivalent, disengage torque rod end from bracket and allow rod to slowly unwind. Disengage opposite end of rod from hinge and remove rod. Repeat for other rod.

4. Reinstall rod removed from right side on left; install left rod on right side.

5. Check lid for proper operation. Adjust rods as required. Replace all previously removed trim.

2. GAS SUPPORT (CYLINDER) INSTALLATION

Correct service installation of gas supports on deck lids is as follows:

Eldorados - smaller diameter rod is to be toward the front of the car with deck lid closed (toward body when installing).

Devilles, Broughams and Sevilles - smaller diameter rod is to be toward rear of the car.

3. ILLUMINATED ENTRY SERVICE PARTS

A new illuminated entry module (P/N 20392771) has been released for service on 1979- 1983 "C", "E" and "K" vehicles. In addition to this new module, illuminated entry connectors (P/N 8900655) and terminals (P/N 8900403) have also been released for service.
