Some 1979-1984 Eldorados and 1980-1984 Sevilles may experience irregular rear tire wear. If this condition is encountered, the following corrective action should be taken:
Check rear wheel alignment. Reset toe-in (if necessary) to the following specifications:
Per Wheel: 0.10 DEG + 0.10 DEG (0.05" +/- 0.05") sum: 0.20 DEG + 0.20 DEG (0.10" +/- 0.10")
If tires are not excessively worn, rotate tires in a "Modified X" pattern as shown in Figure 1.
If tire wear is severe enough to make replacement necessary, the tire dealer should be contacted to determine if a tire warranty or policy adjustment is in order.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
