LOSS OF DRIVE ALL RANGES MISSING LUBE HOLES

LOSS OF DRIVE IN ALL RANGES ON A 1982 SEVILLE OR ELDORADO MAY RESULT FROM INSUFFICIENT LUBRICATION AND SUBSEQUENT OVERHEATING OF THE OVERDRIVE UNIT. THIS LACK OF LUBRICATION MAY BE CAUSED BY MISSING OR BLOCKED LUBE PASSAGES IN THE TRANSMISSION CASE COVER, TURBINE SHAFT, INPUT SHAFT DRIVE SPROCKET SUPPORT AND/OR DRIVEN SPROCKET SUPPORT. WHEN DIAGNOSING THIS CONDITION, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS: I.INSPECT TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL. II.CHECK MANUAL LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT. III.INSPECT OIL FILTER "O" RING SEAL. IV.CHECK PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE OPERATION. V.INSPECT OVERRUN CLUTCH HOUSING AND CARRIER FOR A BLUISH COLOR. IF BLUISH COLOR IS PRESENT, INSPECT THE FOLLOWING PARTS FOR MISSING OR BLOCKED LUBE PASSAGES: A.TRANSMISSION CASE COVER FOR LUBE HOLES MARKED "A" AND "B" (REFER TO FIGURE 1). IF EITHER LUBE HOLE SHOWN IN FIGURE 1 IS MISSING, USE A 6.7MM (17/64") DRILL BIT AND DRILL A HOLE AS FOLLOWS: 1.LUBE HOLE "A" A.DRILL A HOLE AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2. DRILLED HOLE MUST PASS INTO OIL PASSAGE ON OPPOSITE SIDE OF CASE COVER. B.THOROUGHLY FLUSH CASE COVER AFTER DRILLING TO REMOVE ALL CUTTINGS. 2.LUBE HOLE "B" A.SET DRIVE SPROCKET SUPPORT IN PLACE ON CASE COVER. B.USING A PENCIL, PLACE A MARK ON CASE COVER IN LINE WITH CENTER OF LUBE HOLE IN DRIVE SPROCKET SUPPORT. C.DRILL A HOLE BELOW THIS MARK AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2. D.THOROUGHLY FLUSH CASE COVER AFTER DRILLING TO REMOVE ALL CUTTINGS. B.TURBINE SHAFT (REFER TO FIGURE 3). C.INPUT SHAFT (REFER TO FIGURE 4). D.DRIVE SPROCKET SUPPORT (REFER TO FIGURE 5). E.DRIVEN SPROCKET SUPPORT (REFER TO FIGURE 6). VI.REPLACE ANY OVERDRIVE COMPONENTS WHICH SHOW SIGNS OF WEAR OR A BLUISH COLOR. VII.REPLACE ANY PARTS SHOWN IN FIGURES 3 THROUGH 6 WHICH HAVE MISSING OR BLOCKED LUBE PASSAGES.
