ROAD VIBRATION INCORRECT BUSHINGS AND MOUNTS

1982 SEVILLES MAY EXHIBIT ABNORMAL RIDE CHARACTERISTICS CAUSED BY INCORRECT FRONT STABILIZER BAR BUSHINGS AND/OR RADIATOR SUPPORT MOUNT CUSHION ASSEMBLIES. THIS BULLETIN LISTS A PROCEDURE FOR IDENTIFYING AND REPLACING THE INCORRECT BUSHINGS AND/OR MOUNTS. 1.INSPECT BOTH RADIATOR SUPPORT MOUNT CUSHION ASSEMBLIES (REFER TO FIGURE 1). THE CORRECT CUSHION ASSEMBLIES FOR THE 1982 SEVILLE ARE ROUND (P/N 1242754) AND ARE IDENTIFIED BY YELLOW MARKS ON THE RUBBER. THE INCORRECT CUSHION ASSEMBLIES ARE SQUARE. 2.REPLACE ALL SQUARE RADIATOR SUPPORT MOUNT CUSHION ASSEMBLIES AS LISTED BELOW: A.LOOSEN BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT NUMBER 1 AND 2 BODY MOUNTS AND CAREFULLY RAISE THE BODY ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE SQUARE MOUNTS. B.INSTALL THE ROUND MOUNTS USING THREE SHIMS. ADDING OR REMOVING SHIMS MAY BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE PROPER FIT (REFER TO FIGURE 1). C.TORQUE ALL MOUNTING BOLTS TO SPECIFICATIONS. BODY MOUNT BOLTS...............70 N.M (52 FT. LBS.) RADIATOR CUSHION MOUNT BOLTS...36 N.M (26 FT. LBS.) STEPS 3 AND 4 REFER ONLY TO 1982 SEVILLES WITHOUT TOURING SUSPENSION. 3.INSPECT THE FRONT STABILIZER BAR INSULATORS (REFER TO FIGURE 2). THE CORRECT INSULATORS FOR SEVILLE WITHOUT TOURING SUSPENSION ARE IDENTIFIED BY PINK MARKS ON THE RUBBER (P/N 371773). THE INCORRECT INSULATORS ARE IDENTIFIED BY GREEN MARKS ON THE RUBBER. 4.REPLACE ALL GREEN MARKED INSULATORS ON SEVILLES WITHOUT TOURING SUSPENSION AS LISTED BELOW: A.REMOVE FOUR BOLTS ATTACHING THE R.H. AND L.H. INSULATOR CLAMPS AND REMOVE CLAMPS. B.REMOVE GREEN MARKED INSULATORS AND INSTALL PINK MARKED INSULATORS. C.INSTALL R.H. AND L.H. CLAMPS AND TIGHTEN BOLTS TO 33 N.M (24 FT. LBS.). FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES USE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: OPERATION: REPLACE RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION MOUNT ASSEMBLIES OPERATION NO.: T6050 TIME: .5 HR. (BOTH) OPERATION: REPLACE STABILIZER BAR INSULATORS OPERATION NO.: E2180 TIME: .3 HR. (BOTH) OPERATION: REPLACE BOTH RADIATOR SUPPORT CUSHION MOUNT ASSEMBLIES AND STABILIZER BAR INSULATORS OPERATION NO.: T6051 TIME: .7 HR. (ALL)
