On 1984 Sevilles, any water in the tall lamp assembly may condense on the lens. To expedite the evaporation of this moisture, a new tall lamp was put into production at break-point 805420. The new tall lamp, as shown in Figure 1, utilizes three large slots which promote the circulation of air inside the tail lamp.
Vehicles equipped with the old tail lamps can be corrected as follows:
With the tail lamp on the vehicle, drill three holes, approximately six millimeters (.25 inch) in diameter, at the designated locations of Figure 2.
For warranty purposes use the most applicable labour operation number and claim .2 hrs.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
