CAMPAIGN: TRANS. OIL COOLER LINE THERMISTOR

88-C-4

SUBJECT: 1988 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE MODELS: TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE THERMISTOR

CADILLAC MOTOR CAR DIVISION HAS DETERMINED THAT CERTAIN 1988 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE MODELS MAY HAVE AN IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED THERMISTOR (TEMPERATURE SENSOR) IN THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE WHICH MAY RESTRICT OIL FLOW. THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING CAUSING IT TO FAIL.

TO PREVENT THIS CONDITION FROM OCCURRING, DEALERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO INSPECT THE THERMISTOR AND, IF NECESSARY, ADD AN ADAPTER/SPACER TO THE THERMISTOR FITTING TO ELIMINATE THIS POSSIBLE RESTRICTION IN THE COOLER LINE ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES PER THE VEHICLES INVOLVED AND SERVICE PROCEDURES SECTIONS OF THIS BULLETIN.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

ALL 1988 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE MODELS WITHIN THE FOLLOWING VIN RANGES REQUIRE THIS CAMPAIGN (CADILLAC RECORDS INDICATE THAT A TOTAL OF 14,312 VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED):

ELDORADO - JU609471 THROUGH JU618072 SEVILLE - JU808227 THROUGH JU813936

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
