Attached is information on an available Scotchbrite product for quick, easy removal of adhesives from body side moldings and painted body panels. Required equipment includes a high-speed drill motor along with removal discs and holder. These products were tested on 1992 Eldorado and Seville molding systems and were found to be quick and effective, eliminating the need for solvent adhesive removers and hand rubbing. Since it is recommended that body side moldings be removed carefully and reused whenever possible, this equipment can save time on molding and body clean up.
Always wear protective eye wear and/or face shield when operating equipment of this type as particles may become airborne.
Each dealer was provided three copies of both brochures. Please store where they are available to all technicians.
We believe this source and their equipment to be reliable. There may be additional manufacturers of such equipment, however, General Motors does not endorse, indicate any preference for, or assume any responsibility for the products or equipment from these firms or for any such items which may be available from other sources.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
