ECC SYSTEM CONTROLS TOO COLD REPLACE BCM PROM

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 'E' AND 'K'

Some 1989 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience a condition of insufficient interior temperature after the vehicle is driven for a sustained period in cool, overcast weather.

To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Perform ECC system check outlined in Section 1C of the 1989 Service Information Manual.

2. If system check indicates no problem, check BCM PROM I.D.

3. If BCM PROM I.D. is 3776, 3426, or 8766, replace the PROM with P/N 16145908 (PROM I.D. 5916).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
