Some 1986-1990 Sevilles may experience an objectionable wind noise at the rear of the stationary vent glass due to inconsistencies in the sealing surface. This condition was corrected in Production at VIN breakpoint LU811792 in the 1990 model through the addition of a nitrile foam section to the glass run channel.
To repair this condition on vehicles before the breakpoint, use the following procedure:
1. Apply silicone sealant, P/N #1052915, under lip of rear door glass run channel of the stationary glass. Refer to Figure 1, Item 1.
2. Apply a sealing strip half round 1/4" foam/rubber, and force up under lip of rear door glass run channel of the stationary glass. Refer to Figure 1, Item 2.
3. Cut excess sealing strip. Refer to Figure 2.
4. Clean glass of excess silicone lubricant.
5. Repeat the above operation on opposite side rear door of the vehicle.
Use most applicable Labour Operation and Time from the Canadian Labour Time Guide.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
