THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD A BREAKPOINT, MORE INFORMATION AND ART WORK.**
On 1992 Sevilles prior to VIN 840487 there is a black sealer ooze between the rear door upper frame and the stationary vent window moulding assembly. The black sealer is used to prevent water and wind intrusion between the door upper frame and vent assembly, however, under elevated temperatures the sealer begins to flow.
This condition can be repaired as follows:
1. Remove the rear door trim panel.
2. Remove the door window frame garnish moulding. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Remove the door glass run channel in all areas except in lower rear corner between glass and vent window moulding assembly. Refer to Figure 1, View A.
4. Remove the window frame applique. Refer to Figure 1.
5. Remove inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Figure 1.
6. Remove the three Phillips screws across the top of the glass run channel, the three 8mm retaining nuts, and two Phillips screws retaining the vent assembly. Do not remove the vent assembly. Refer to Figure 1.
7. Pull the vent assembly outboard far enough to clean a 3/4 inch band of sealer from the outer edge of the moulding. Use 3m general purpose adhesive cleaner, P/N 08984, or equivalent.
8. Apply a 1/4 inch bead of black 3M super silicone sealant, P/N 08662, or equivalent within 1/2 inch of outer edge of the vent assembly moulding. The black silicone will prevent any future sealer oozing and will seal the assembly. Refer to Figure 2.
9. Reinstall removed parts.
10. Clean off any sealant squeeze out with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, P/N 08984, or equivalent.
For vehicles repaired under warranty use:
To clean and seal the right-hand and left-hand door window reveal mouldings respectively. 0.8 hour each

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
