WET CARPETING AT FRONT DOORS (SEAL CAVITY WITH STRIP CAULK)

SOME 1992 AND EARLY 1993 SEVILLES (BEFORE VIN BREAKPOINT 810000) MAY EXPERIENCE WET CARPETING AT THE RIGHT- OR LEFT-HAND FRONT DOORS. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY WATER INTRUSION THROUGH A CAVITY BETWEEN THE FRONT UPPER CORNER OF THE DOOR GLASS RUN CHANNEL AND THE MIRROR PATCH AREA. THIS CAVITY ALLOWS WATER TO RUN DOWN ON THE INSIDE OF THE WATER DEFLECTOR.

TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION PERFORM THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:

1. REMOVE THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY. REFER TO SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL, SECTION 10-6.

2. CHECK FOR PRESENCE OF SEALER AT THE UPPER FRONT CORNER OF THE DOOR GLASS RUN CHANNEL AS SHOWN IN THE SHADED AREA IN FIGURE 1.

3. IF THE SEALER IS ABSENT OR FAILS TO FILL THE CAVITY, USING 3M STRIP CAULK (P/N 08578 OR EQUIVALENT) SEAL THE CAVITY AS SHOWN IN THE SHADED AREA OF FIGURE 1.

4. REINSTALL THE MIRROR. REFER TO SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL, SECTION 10-6.

5. CHECK FOR WATER LEAKS.

6. REINSTALL THE TRIM PANEL. REFER TO SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL, SECTION 10-6.

FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES USE LABOR OPERATIONS T6757 (RH) AND T6758 (LH) AT .3 HOUR EACH SIDE.
