Some 1993 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with the armrest cupholder may experience a condition in which the cupholder may not properly latch (remain in the open position). This condition may be caused by a broken latch.
If this condition is encountered, replace the armrest cupholder latch, P/N 3544187, using the following procedure:
1. Remove bottom plate from cupholder by removing two screws from bottom plate bumper and disengaging bottom plate clips. Refer to Figure 1.
2. Remove armrest bun by removing four screws retaining bun to cupholder slide plate.
3. Remove old latch assembly from cupholder by releasing latch tangs. Install new latch by snapping into position.
4. Verify cupholder latch operation prior to installing armrest bun and bottom plate.
5. Install armrest bun and bottom plate.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
