FRONT END VIBRATION,SHAKE,OR LOOSENESS FEEL OVER BUMPS

SUBJECT: FRONT END VIBRATION, SHAKE, OR LOOSENESS OVER BUMPS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1993 ELDORADOS BEFORE VIN 600475) AND SEVILLES (BEFORE VIN 800965)

Some 1993 Eldorados (before VIN 600475) and 1993 Sevilles (before VIN 800965) with the Northstar powertrain (VIN code 9) may experience a condition of front end vibration, shake, or "loose" feeling when riding over bumps in the road.

This condition may be caused by the left transmission mount not providing sufficient damping.

To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Raise vehicle and support.

2. Remove left front tire and wheel.

3. Disconnect RSS position sensor from lower ball stud.

4. Remove the forward splash panel.

5. Use transmission support fixture, J-28664, to support the transaxle for removal of the transmission mount.

NOTICE: DO NOT SUPPORT THE TRANSAXLE BY THE BOTTOM PAN WITH A JACK STAND OR GASKET DAMAGE MAY RESULT.

6. Remove the left transmission mount and replace with P/N 22145407. Torque bolts and nuts to 47 N.m (35 lbs. ft.).

7. Reinstall the forward splash panel.

8. Reconnect RSS position sensor.

9. Reinstall left front tire and wheel.

10. Lower vehicle.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6685 at .4 hour.
