APPLIQUE MOLDING MISALIGNMENT INST. SPACER BLOCK

SUBJECT: APPLIQUE MOLDING MISALIGNMENT

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992-1993 SEVILLES

Some 1992-1993 Sevilles/STS's built prior to VIN PU812178 may show a misalignment of front to rear door applique moldings with gap being too wide or not parallel. This can be improved by adding stand-off spacers to the inside of the applique moldings.

To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Pull away upper door window run channel from door header to expose the applique molding screws. Refer to Figure 1.

2. Remove all three applique molding screws.

3. Pivot applique molding away from door frame approximately 7mm. Be careful molding hook flange does not become disengaged.

4. Install three rubber stand - off spacer blocks, P/N 10127825, to the applique molding by locating them between the molding and the door frame. This will roll the lip of the applique molding outboard and close up the gap condition between the front and rear door vertical header. Refer to Figure 1.

5. Put molding back into position and reinstall screws.

NOTE: If original screw holes cannot be engaged drill or punch new holes making sure to treat original holes by first using a zinc-rich primer such as 3M Weld-Thru Coating, P/N 05913, followed by 3M Ultra Pro Auto Body Sealant, P/N 08302, or equivalent.

6. Reinstall door run channel.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operations T6712 (right-hand doors) and T6713 (left-hand doors) at .3 hour each side.
