VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1993 "E" AND "K" MODELS
Some owners of 1993 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with analog or digital cluster may experience a fuel gage inaccuracy.
This condition may be caused by the fuel gage calibration PROM (software) which overstates the fuel amount remaining in the tank.
To correct this condition use the following procedure:
1. Enter diagnostics, record (ID99) the IPC PROM I.D. If the cluster PROM I.D. (ID99) is 184, remove cluster from the I/P per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual and order PROM part number 16192433 from GMSPO. The PROM I.D. of 16192433 is 2435.
If the cluster PROM I.D. (ID99) is 2435, refer to "Fuel Gage Inoperable/Improper" in Section 8Cl of the 1993 Eldorado/Seville Service Information Manual.
2. Install new cluster PROM.
3. Reinstall the cluster per Section 8C of the Service Information Manual.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
