Removal Procedure

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the headlamp cover panel. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4. Remove the left-hand engine support torque struts. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  6. Position the radiator inlet hose out of the way.
  7. Disconnect the upper transmission oil cooler line. Refer to Cooler Lines, Fittings, Auxiliary Cooler Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

  9. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.

  11. Remove the 4 fan mounting bolts.

  13. Remove the cooling fans.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fans to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 69957  Size: SH
  3. Secure the fans to the vehicle with 4 bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fan mounting bolts to 10 N·m (89  lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the electrical connectors to the fan motors.
  6. Connect the upper transmission oil cooler line.

  8. Reposition the radiator inlet hose.
  9. Install the left-hand engine support torque strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  10. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  11. Install the headlamp cover panel. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Body Front End.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
