Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat housing. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the headlamp cover panel. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

  4. Object Number: 69948  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 2 bolts securing the thermostat housing to the coolant pump inlet.

  6. Object Number: 69947  Size: SH
  7. Remove the thermostat and the o-ring from the thermostat housing.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 69947  Size: SH
  1. Install the thermostat and the new o-ring into the coolant pump housing.
  2. Install the thermostat housing.

  3. Object Number: 69948  Size: SH
  4. Install the 2 thermostat housing bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  7. Install the headlamp cover panel. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Body Front End.
  8. Refill the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
