Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  2. Remove the bottom pan and the seal.
  3. Remove the scavenger screens and the lip seals. Refer to Scavenge Screens and Seals Replacement .
  4. Remove the lower controls assembly. Refer to Lower Controls .

  5. Object Number: 97494  Size: SH
  6. Remove 6 bolts and the transmission pressure switch.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 97494  Size: SH
  1. Install the new transaxle pressure switch and the six bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (109 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower controls assembly. Refer to Lower Controls .
  4. Install the bottom pan and the seal.
  5. Install the scavenger screens and the lip seals. Refer to Scavenge Screens and Seals Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Add DEXTRON®-III transmission fluid as required.
  8. Reset the transaxle oil life indicator if necessary. Refer to Resetting Transaxle Oil Life Indicator in General Information.
