SOME OF THE ABOVE LISTED VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
- CUPHOLDER WILL NOT LATCH OR OPEN - EXCESSIVE GAPS OF THE CUPHOLDER TO THE FULL CONSOLE TRIM PLATE - EXCESSIVE GAPS OF THE ASHTRAY TO THE FULL CONSOLE TRIM PLATE
CUPHOLDER WILL NOT LATCH/OPEN - =============================
1. CHECK FUNCTIONALITY OF CUPHOLDER. IF THE LATCH IS NON-FUNCTIONAL, REPLACE THE LATCH WITH P/N 3543421. SOME EARLY VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH NON-SERVICEABLE LATCHES. GENTLY PUSH ON THE TABS ON THE SIDE OF THE LATCH AND PUSH UP. IF THE LATCH MOVES UPWARD, REPLACE IT. IF THERE IS NO MOVEMENT, THE CUPHOLDER ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED.
2. CHECK THE SIDES FOR BINDING AGAINST THE VINYL OR THE REARWARD EDGE OF THE TRIM PLATE. IF BINDING, REMOVE THE RUBBER PAD AND LOOSEN THE 2 SCREWS SECURING THE CUPHOLDER TO THE CONSOLE. ADJUST AS REQUIRED TO INSURE PROPER OPERATION.
3. RE-SECURE THE CUPHOLDER.
EXCESSIVE GAPS/ALIGNMENT OF THE CUPHOLDER TO THE TRIM PLATE - ===========================================================
1. IF GAPS ARE EXCESSIVE, ELONGATE THE HOLES FOR THE SCREWS HOLDING THE CUPHOLDER IN PLACE. THIS WILL PROVIDE ROOM FOR ADJUSTMENT. THE TRIM PLATE WILL HAVE SOME MOVEMENT BY GENTLY LIFTING UP ON THE TRIM PLATE FOR THE CONSOLE AND MOVING THE TRIM PLATE TO THE DESIRED POSITION. PUSH DOWN ON THE TRIM PLATE TO RE-SECURE.
2. RE-INSTALL THE CUPHOLDER.
EXCESSIVE GAPS/ALIGNMENT OF THE ASHTRAY TO THE TRIM PLATE - =========================================================
1. OPEN THE ASHTRAY DOOR AND CHECK TO INSURE THAT THE ASHTRAY FRAME IS POSITIONED ON TOP OF THE VINYL. REMOVE AND RE-INSTALL THE FRAME TO CORRECT.
2. GENTLY LIFT UP ON THE TRIM PLATE AND MOVE THE TRIM PLATE TO THE DESIRED POSITION. PUSH DOWN ON THE TRIM PLATE TO RE-SECURE.
3. IF THE GAPS ARE STILL EXCESSIVE, REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY.
