THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO UPDATE THE INSPECTION MILEAGE INTERVALS. PLEASE DISCARD CORPORATE BULLETIN NUMBER 63-02-01 (SECTION 0 - GENERAL INFORMATION). ______________________________________________________________________
THIS BULLETIN IS BEING ISSUED TO REVISE THE THROTTLE BODY INSPECTION INTERVALS IN SECTION 0B (MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION) OF THE APPLICABLE SERVICE MANUALS. THESE NEW MILEAGE INTERVALS SHOULD BE USED FOR 1996 VEHICLES WITH 4.0 AND 4.6 LITER V8 ENGINES. INSPECTION IS TO BE PERFORMED AT 15,000 MILES (25 000KM) AND EVERY 30,000 MILES (50 000KM) THEREAFTER.
INSPECT THROTTLE BODY BORE AND THROTTLE VALVE PLATE FOR DEPOSITS. REFER TO THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (CLEANING PROCEDURE) IN THE ENGINE CONTROLS SECTION OF THE SERVICE MANUAL (OLDSMOBILE) OR THROTTLE BODY CLEANING PROCEDURE IN THE MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION SECTION OF THE SERVICE MANUAL (CADILLAC).
THE CADILLAC MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE HAS COUPONS FOR OVER 100,000 MILES (160 000KM) BUT THE THROTTLE BODY INSPECTION IS NOT INCLUDED AFTER 100,000 MILES (160 000KM) ON THOSE COUPONS. STARTING AT 105,000 MILES (169 000KM), THROTTLE BODY INSPECTION EVERY 30,000 MILES (50 000KM).
