Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 69948  Size: SH
  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat housing.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the thermostat housing to the water pump inlet.

  4. Object Number: 69947  Size: SH
  5. Remove the thermostat and the gasket from the thermostat housing.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 69947  Size: SH
  1. Install the thermostat and a new gasket into the water pump housing.
  2. Install the thermostat housing.

  3. Object Number: 69948  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the thermostat housing bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  7. Refill the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
