Removal Procedure

Notice: Turn OFF the ignition when connecting or disconnecting the battery cables, the battery charger or the jumper cables. Failure to do so may damage the PCM or other electronic components.

  1. Remove the rear seat. Refer to rear seat removal in Body and Accessories.

  2. Object Number: 154782  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  5. Disconnect the positive battery cable (1).

  6. Object Number: 288808  Size: SH
  7. Remove the battery vent (1) from the floor pan.

  8. Object Number: 288839  Size: SH
  9. Remove the battery retainer bolt and battery retainer.
  10. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery.

  2. Object Number: 288839  Size: SH
  3. Install the retainer and bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Connect the positive battery cable.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the positive battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m(11 lb ft).

  9. Install the rear seat. Refer to rear seat replacement in Body and Accessories.
