Disassembly Procedure
  1. Remove the tilt lever assembly. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle

    2. Object Number: 283269 Size: SH
  2. Remove the steering column closeout (1).

    3. Object Number: 283270 Size: SH
  3. Remove the two pan head tapping screws (1) from the lower shroud (2).
  4. Remove the lower shroud (2).

    5. Object Number: 283271 Size: SH
  5. Remove the two torx head screws (2) from the upper shroud (1).
  6. Remove the upper shroud (1).

Assembly Procedure

    Object Number: 283271 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the upper shroud (1) and secure by using two torx head screws (2).

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  2. Install the lower shroud (1).
  3. Ensure that the tabs on the lower shroud (1) engage with the tabs on the upper shroud (2) then snap together.

    4. Object Number: 283274 Size: SH
  4. Install the two pan head tapping screws (1) to the lower shroud.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5  N·m (31 lb in).

  5. Install the steering column closeout shroud (1).
  6. Install the tilt lever assembly. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle
