For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  4. Remove the SIR fuse from the rear junction block.
  5. Important: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, The AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  6. Remove the driver sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (2) from the driver yellow 2-way connector (1) located at the base of the steering column.
  8. Disconnect the driver yellow 2-way connector (1) located at the base of the steering column.

  10. Remove the passenger sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  11. Object Number: 338380  Size: SH
  12. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (2) from the passenger yellow 2-way connector (1) located above the passenger sound insulator.

  13. Object Number: 142199  Size: SH
  14. Disconnect the passenger yellow 2-way connector (1) located above the passenger sound insulator.

  15. Object Number: 156263  Size: SH
  16. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector located under the driver seat (1).
  17. Disconnect the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector (2) located under the driver seat (1).
  18. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector (2) located under the passenger front seat (1).
  19. Disconnect the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector located under the passenger front seat (1).
