Removal Procedure
- Remove the passenger seat. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket
in Seats.
- Remove the pretensioner trim cover by pulling up on the front
of the cover and then pulling forward.
- Remove the CPA from the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way
connector located under the seat.
- Disconnect the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector
located under the seat.
- Disconnect the pretensioner 2-way electrical connector from the
4-way side air bag connector.
- Remove the nut fastening the pretensioner to the seat.
Installation Procedure
- Install the pretensioner to the stud on the seat.
Notice that the pretensioner has a tab that fits into the seat to insure
the pretensioner is in the proper position.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nut to fastening the pretensioner
to the seat.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Carefully route the pretensioner pigtail harness under the seat.
- Connect the pretensioner 2-way electrical connector to the 4-way
side air bag connector.
- Connect the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector located
under the seat.
- Install the CPA to the side air bag/pretensioner yellow
6-way connector located under the seat.
- Install the pretensioner trim cover by engaging the rear first,
then pushing down on the front.
- Install the seat. Refer to
