Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Mark the location of the upper and/or lower hood hinge on the
underside of the hood and on the fender to aid in the adjustment of the upper
and/or lower hood hinge after installation.
- Remove the hood. Refer to
Hood Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts (2) retaining the upper hood
hinge (3) to the hood (1).
- Remove the upper hood hinge (3) from the hood (1).
- Remove the bolts (2) retaining the lower hood
hinge (3) to the body.
- Remove the lower hood hinge (3) from the body.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lower hood hinge (3) to the body.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
(2) to retain the lower hood hinge (3) to the body.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts (2) to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the upper hood hinge (3) to the hood
(1).
- Install the bolts (2) to retain the upper hood hinge (3) to the
hood (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the hood.
- Close the hood.
