- Inspect all suspension components and wheels carefully for the
following damage:
• | Check for cracks in component attachment areas |
• | Check for large chips in casting surfaces |
• | Check for large gauges in casting surfaces |
- Inspect the suspension components for wear.
- Inspect the wheels for wear.
- Inspect suspension components for galvanic corrosion.
- Inspect fasteners for galvanic corrosion.
Galvanic corrosion develops due to the use of the following dissimilar
metals:
- Use specially coated original factory fasteners to prevent corrosion.
- Replace suspension components with new parts if the following
is present:
• | Bent suspension components |
• | Damaged suspension components |
• | Worn suspension components |
- If bent, damaged and/or worn suspension components or bent, damaged
and/or worn wheels are present, carefully inspect the ball joint joint attachment
to the knuckle boss for looseness or damage. Refer to Ball Stud And Knuckle
Inspection.
Do not heat, quench, straighten or weld aluminum suspension components.
