Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 293350  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove two bolts securing the heat shield.
  3. Remove the power steering gear heat shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 293350  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering gear heat shield.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the two bolts securing the heat shield.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the heat shield bolts to 9 N·m (79 lb in).

  5. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 105345  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove two bolts attaching the heat shield to the rack and pinion gear.
  3. Remove the power steering gear heat shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105345  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   1. Install the power steering gear heat shield.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (7 lb ft).

  3. Lower the vehicle.
