Was the Wiper/Washer System Check performed?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector C202.
  3. Set the wiper switch to DELAY.
  4. Measure the resistance through connector C202, terminal A3 to terminal D3, using a J 39200 DMM set to the Ohms scale.
  5. Move the wiper switch through the entire delay range.

Does the resistance vary within the specified range?

39 kohms to 680 kohms

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Reconnect connector C202 to the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector from the wiper motor.
  3. Turn the ignition to ON.
  4. Set the wiper switch to HI.
  5. Measure the voltage from the wiper motor connector terminal H to ground using a J 39200 DMM.

Is the measurement within the specified values?

10.5-15.5 V

Repair the open in CKT 477.

  2. Set the wiper switch to HI.

Are the wipers operating?

Set the wiper switch to the middle AUTO DELAY position.

Does the wiper system operate like a delay system?

Set the wiper switch to the next-higher sensitivity position (towards OFF).

Did an instant wipe occur when increasing sensitivity?

  1. Set the wiper switch to the highest sensitivity level (towards OFF).
  2. Move the wiper switch to the second highest sensitivity position (one position away from OFF).

Did an instant wipe occur when moving the wiper switch from the maximum sensitivity position (closest to OFF) to the second highest sensitivity position?

  1. Disconnect the connector from the rainsense module.
  2. Connect a test light between the rainsense module connector (harness side) terminals 7 and 8.

Is the test light on?

Connect a test light from the rainsense module connector (harness side), terminal 8, to ground.

Is the test light on?

Repair the open in CKT 851.

  1. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM set to Ohms scale from the wiper motor connector, terminal F, to the rainsense module connector (harness side), terminal 5.

Is there continuity?

Replace the rainsense module. Refer to Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement .

Repair the open in CKT 482.

Move the wiper switch from the second highest sensitivity position to the third highest sensitivity position.

Did an instant wipe occur?

Inspect for dirty glass or a clouded rainsense module attachment. If the windshield is clean and the adhesive tape is not clouded, replace the rainsense module. Refer to Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement .

Is the repair or replacement complete?

Move the wiper switch from the fourth highest sensitivity position to the fifth highest sensitivity position.

Did an instant wipe occur?

Replace the rainsense module. Refer to Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Inspect for an open in CKT 481.
  2. If OK, replace the wiper motor cover. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement .
  3. If the problem persists replace the rainsense module. Refer to Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?
