Throttle Body Assembly Replacement Export

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
3. Remove the retaining bolt from the air cleaner resonator.
4. Loose the duct clamp at the resonator.
5. Remove the air cleaner resonator from the vehicle.

Notice: Do not damage the MAF sensor screen. A damaged screen could restrict airflow and lead to a driveability concern.

6. Loosen the duct clamp at the MAF sensor.
7. Disconnect the IAT sensor connector (1).
8. Loosen the duct clamp at the air filter cleaner housing cover (3).



9. Remove the MAF sensor (5). Refer to Mass Airflow Sensor Replacement .



10. Disconnect the transaxle vent hose (4) from the accelerator controls cable bracket.



11. Disconnect the cruise control cable (2).
12. Disconnect the accelerator control cable (3).



13. Remove the cruise control cable (2) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (1).
14. Remove the accelerator controls cable (3) from the accelerator controls cable bracket (1).



15. Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector (6).
16. Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector (1).



17. Disconnect the throttle body coolant hoses (1) from the throttle body.



18. Remove the bolts retaining the accelerator controls cable bracket.
19. Remove the accelerator controls cable bracket.



20. Remove the following components:

•	The throttle body retaining bolts

•	The throttle body (1)

•	The gasket (2)

21. Clean any gasket material from the throttle body spacer (3).

Important: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the MAF sensor inlet duct must line up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect airflow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveability concern.

Important: Do Not Reuse the old throttle body gasket.




1. Install the throttle body (1) and the gasket (2) with the retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the throttle body attaching bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

2. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket.
3. Install the mounting bolts to the accelerator controls cable bracket.



4. Connect the throttle body coolant hoses (1) at the throttle body.



5. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector (1).
6. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector (6).



7. Install the accelerator cable (3) to the accelerator controls cable bracket (1).
8. Install the cruise control cable (2) to the accelerator controls cable bracket (1).



9. Connect the accelerator controls cable (3) at throttle body lever (1).
10. Connect the cruise control cable (2) at throttle body lever (1).



11. Install the transaxle vent hose (4) to the accelerator controls cable bracket.



12. Install the MAF sensor. Refer to Mass Airflow Sensor Replacement .

Tighten
Tighten the MAF sensor bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).




13. Tighten the air intake duct (2) clamp at the air cleaner housing cover (3).

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).




14. Connect the IAT sensor connector (1).
15. Tighten the duct clamp (2) at the MAF sensor.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

16. Install the air cleaner resonator to the vehicle.
17. Tighten the duct clamp at the resonator.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

18. Install the air cleaner resonator bolt.
19. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

20. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.



21. Reinstall the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Removal in Engine Mechanical.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
