Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side LHD

Tools Required

J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  4. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
  5. Disconnect the intermediate park brake cable (2) from the park brake connector (1).

  6. Object Number: 751605  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (2) from the intermediate park brake cable connector (3).
  8. Using J 37043 depress the right brake cable locking tabs (2).
  9. Remove the right park brake cable (2) from the park brake cable support bracket (1).

  10. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  11. Using J 37043 depress the right park brake cable locking tabs.
  12. Remove the right park brake cable (2) from the caliper park brake cable bracket (1).
  13. Disconnect the right park brake cable (2) from the park brake actuator lever (3).
  14. Remove the right park brake cable (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 751605  Size: SH
  1. Install the right park brake cable (2) to the park brake cable support bracket (1).
  2. Press the right park brake cable into the park brake cable support bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  3. Connect the intermediate park brake cable connector (3) to the right park brake cable (2).

  4. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  5. Connect the right park brake cable (2) to the park brake actuator lever (3).
  6. Install the right park brake cable (2) to the caliper park brake cable bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.

  7. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  8. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
  9. Connect the intermediate park brake cable (2) to the park brake connector (1).
  10. Install the right tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.

Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side RHD

Removal Procedure

  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the park brake cable from the adjuster.

  5. Object Number: 751605  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (2) from the intermediate park brake cable connector (3).
  7. Using J 37043 depress the right brake cable locking tabs (2).
  8. Remove the right park brake cable (2) from the park brake cable support bracket (1).

  9. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  10. Using J 37043 depress the right park brake cable locking tabs.
  11. Remove the right park brake cable (2) from the caliper park brake cable bracket (1).
  12. Disconnect the right park brake cable (2) from the park brake actuator lever (3).
  13. Remove the right park brake cable (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 751605  Size: SH
  1. Install the right park brake cable (2) to the park brake cable support bracket (1).
  2. Press the right park brake cable into the park brake cable support bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  3. Connect the intermediate park brake cable connector (3) to the right park brake cable (2).

  4. Object Number: 728147  Size: SH
  5. Connect the right park brake cable (2) to the park brake actuator lever (3).
  6. Install the right park brake cable (2) to the caliper park brake cable bracket (1). Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  7. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  8. Install the right tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
