Removal Procedure

Important: The rear floor service part comes pre-cut to the appropriate size for sectioning. It does not need to be modified.

  1. Remove all panels and components as necessary for access.
  2. Restore as much of the damage as possible to factory specifications.
  3. Locate, mark, and drill out all factory welds rearward of the crossbar connecting the rear rails to the floor panel.
  4. Locate and drill out the welds attaching the rear floor panel to the wheelhouse.

  5. Object Number: 240735  Size: SH
  6. Cut the rear floor along the rearward edge of the crossbar (1).
  7. Take care not to cut the crossbar or the rear rails (2).
  8. Remove the damaged section of the rear floor panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Drill 8 mm (5/16 in) holes for plug welding in the service panels necessary in the locations noted from the original floor panel.
  2. Prepare all mating surfaces for welding as necessary.
  3. Apply 3M Weld-Thru Coating P/N 05916 or equivalent to all mating surfaces.

  4. Object Number: 240738  Size: SH
  5. Position the service floor section on top of the original floor and check the fit.
  6. Plug weld as necessary.
  7. Clean and prepare all bare metal surfaces.
  8. Apply the following as necessary:
  9. • The sealers
    • The anti-corrosion materials
    • A two-part catalyzed primer
    • A top coat

       Important: Prior to refinishing, refer to GM 4901MD-99 Refinish Manual for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to paint manufacturer's recommendations.

  10. Install the panels and components previously removed for access.
