Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver's door. When operated, the Express Down Feature allows the door window to drop very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.
7.1. | Push upward on the two lower retaining tabs. |
7.2. | Remove the handle, with the latch rod and lock cylinder attached, by lifting up and out. |
1.1. | Insert the rods through the cutout. |
1.2. | Rotate the handle into position. |
1.3. | Apply up and inward pressure until the two lower retaining tabs on the handle engages into the door metal. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
4.1. | Insert the rod (1) into the retainer clip (2) on the door latch assembly. |
4.2. | Close the clip (2). |
Important: Inspect for the proper operation of the door handle and lock cylinder before installing the water deflector. |
