Removal Procedure
  1. Place window in the full up position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 291146 Size: SH

    Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver's door. When operated, the Express Down Feature allows the door window to drop very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

  4. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the door latch (driver's door only).

  5. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) from the door latch retainer clip (2).

    6. Object Number: 576952 Size: SH
  6. Remove the two fasteners (2) from the outside door handle (1).

    7. Object Number: 554972 Size: SH
  7. Remove the door handle assembly from the door in the following order:
    8. 7.1. Push upward on the two lower retaining tabs.
    7.2. Remove the handle, with the latch rod and lock cylinder attached, by lifting up and out.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 334828 Size: SH
  1. Install the door handle assembly into the door in the following order:
    2. 1.1. Insert the rods through the cutout.
    1.2. Rotate the handle into position.
    1.3. Apply up and inward pressure until the two lower retaining tabs on the handle engages into the door metal.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the outside door handle fasteners (2) through the access holes.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  3. Connect the lock cylinder rod to the door latch on the driver's door.

    4. Object Number: 105412 Size: SH
  4. Connect the outside door handle rod to the latch in the following order:
    5. 4.1. Insert the rod (1) into the retainer clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
    4.2. Close the clip (2).

            Important: Inspect for the proper operation of the door handle and lock cylinder before installing the water deflector.

  5. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  6. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
