Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Using a wax pencil, mark the location of the upper and/or lower hood hinge on the underside of the hood and on the fender.
  3. Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  4. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 105172  Size: SH
  6. Remove the fasteners (2) securing the upper hood hinge (3) to the hood (1).
  7. Remove the upper hood hinge (3) from the hood (1).

  8. Object Number: 105288  Size: SH
  9. Remove the fasteners (2) securing the lower hood hinge (3) to the body.
  10. Remove the lower hood hinge (3) from the body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105288  Size: SH
  1. Install the lower hood hinge (3) to the body.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fasteners (2) in order to secure the lower hood hinge (3) to the body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (2) to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the upper hood hinge (3) to the hood (1).
  6. Install the fasteners (2) in order to secure the upper hood hinge (3) to the hood (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the hood to the vehicle. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  9. Close the hood.
