Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in the Preface section.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Remove the garnish molding from the left and the right windshield. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) air outlet deflectors. Refer to
Instrument Panel Air Deflector Replacement
in HVAC.
- Close the air outlets (1) in order to prevent the upper trim pad fasteners from falling into the HVAC ducts.
- Remove the fasteners (2) from the inside of the air outlet deflector openings in the upper pad.
- Lift the I/P pad (1) upward from rear edge, over the I/P cluster, in order to disengage the retainers from the I/P cluster trim plate.
- Lift the pad on an angle, and slide the pad rearward in order to disengage the retainers at the front of the I/P. It may be necessary to push down on right front edge of the pad in order to disengage the retainer from the carrier forward of the PSIR location.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
- Remove the trim pad (2) from the vehicle.
- If the I/P upper pad is to be replaced, remove the speakers from the trim pad. Refer to
Radio Front Speaker Replacement
in Entertainment.
- Straighten the mounting tabs for the speaker grilles.
Remove the speaker grilles from the trim pad.
- Remove the speaker wiring harness from the trim pad.
Installation Procedure
- Install the speaker wiring harness to the trim pad (2).
- Install the speaker grilles to the trim pad (2).
Fold over the speaker grille retaining tabs, in order to secure the speaker grilles.
- Install the speakers to the trim pad (2). Refer to
Radio Front Speaker Replacement
in Entertainment.
- Install the I/P trim pad (2) to the I/P assembly, and reconnect the electrical connection (1).
- Slide the I/P pad forward in order to engage the front retainers to the I/P carrier.
- Align the rear edge of the I/P pad (1) with the I/P cluster bezel, and snap the retainers into the upper pad.

- Install the fasteners (2) into the air outlet deflector openings.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Open the air outlets (1).
- Install the air outlet vents. Refer to
Instrument Panel Air Deflector Replacement
in HVAC.
- Install the garnish moldings to the right and the left windshield. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Enable the SIR. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
.
