8 Digit GM Part Number: The scan tool displays the part number for the instrument panel
cluster (IPC).
ABS Input: The scan tool displays Off/On. The state of the back-up ABS indicator
signal. The IPC uses the class 2 serial data circuit in order to determine
if the IPC loses communication with the electronic
brake control module (EBCM).
Battery Volts: The scan tool displays 0 to 19 volts. The voltage at the
battery positive voltage circuit of the IPC.
Brake Fluid Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The IPC monitors the brake fluid
level switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as Low.
Calibration ID: The scan tool displays the calibration ID for the control module.
Chime: The scan tool displays On/Off. Indicates the commanded state of
the chime requested by the amplifier.
Component Serial No. 8-11: The scan tool displays digits 8 to 11 of the component serial
number of the control module.
Component Serial No. 12: The scan tool displays digit 12 of the component serial

Component Serial No. 13-16: The scan tool displays digits 13 to 16 of the component

center (DIC) select menu switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed
as On.
Display Trip Reset Sw.: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the trip odometer
reset switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Driver Door Ajar Sw.: The scan tool displays Off/On. The driver door module monitors
the driver door ajar switch. A closed switch with the driver door open, is
displayed as On.
ECT: The scan tool displays -40 to 215°C (-40 to 419°F).
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the voltage at the signal circuit
of the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. The voltage is inversely
proportional to the engine coolant temperature.
Engine Oil Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit
of the engine oil level switch. A closed switch is displayed as OK.
Engine Oil Pressure Switch: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The PCM monitors the signal circuit
of the engine oil pressure switch. A closed switch is displayed as Low.
Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0 to 9999 RPM. The PCM monitors the
signal circuit of the engine speed sensor.
Engine Speed: The scan tool displays 0 to 7000 RPM. The IPC monitors the
engine speed signal circuit from the PCM.
English/Metric Sw.: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the metric conversion
switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Fluorescent Light: The scan tool displays 0 to 100%. The fluorescent light level of
the instrument cluster.
Fuel Level: The scan tool displays 0 to 70 L (0 to 18.5 gal).
The PCM calculates the amount of fuel in the tank by monitoring the signal
circuit of the fuel level sensor.
Fuel Level Sensor: The scan tool displays 0 to 5 Volts. The PCM monitors the
signal circuit of the fuel level sensor. Low fuel is displayed as low voltage.
Head Lamp Switch: The scan tool displays On/Off. The dash integration module (DIM)
monitors the headlamp switch headlamps on signal circuit. A closed switch
is displayed as On.
Ignition 1: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the ignition 1
voltage circuit.
IMS: The scan tool displays PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE 4, DRIVE 3,
DRIVE 2, DRIVE 1, or INVALID. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the automatic
transmission internal mode switch. If a valid combination of inputs
is not received by the PCM, INVALID will be displayed.
Info. Reset Switch: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the DIC set/reset
switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Information Down Switch: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the information
down switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Information Up Switch: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the information
up switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Julian Date of Build: The scan tool displays the 3 digit build date of the IPC.
Key In Ignition: The scan tool displays Yes/No. The instrument panel module (IPM)
monitors the key in ignition signal circuit. A closed switch with the key
in the ignition, is displayed as Yes.
Left Turn Signal: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the left turn lamps
supply voltage circuit. An active turn signal will toggle the scan tool
display On and Off.
Low Coolant Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The IPC monitors the signal circuit
of the coolant level switch. Low coolant level, or a closed switch, is displayed
as Low.
On/Off Switch: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the DIC switch
signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Park Brake Switch: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the signal circuit
of the park brake release switch. A closed switch is displayed as On.
PROM ID: The scan tool displays the 4 digit number that identifies the IPC
PROM.
Reflective Display: The scan tool displays Off/On. The status of the reflective display
on the IPC.
Right Turn Signal: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the right turn
lamps supply voltage circuit. An active turn signal will toggle the scan
tool display On and Off.
Trip Odometer A/B Switch: The scan tool displays Off/On. The IPC monitors the DIC toggle
switch signal circuit. A closed switch is displayed as On.
Vehicle Speed: The scan tool displays 0 to 255 km/h (0 to 159 mph).
The IPC monitors the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM.
Vehicle Speed Sensor: The scan tool displays 0 to 255 km/h (0 to 159 mph).
The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the vehicle speed sensor.
VF Dim: The scan tool displays a percentage. The vacuum fluorescent (VF)
display dimming percentage of the instrument cluster.
Washer Fluid Level: The scan tool displays OK/Low. The IPC monitors the signal circuit
of the windshield washer fluid level switch. A closed switch is displayed
as Low.
Year Module Built: The scan tool displays the 4 digit number which corresponds to
the year that the IPC was manufactured.
