Digital Radio Receiver Replacement U2K

Removal Procedure

    Important: Do not swap digital radio receivers between vehicles. Swapping digital receivers between vehicles will activate the digital radio Theftlock, "XM Theftlock" will be displayed.

  1. Remove the left rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side in Body Rear End.
  2. Loosen the digital receiver mounting bolts (1).
  3. Slide the receiver and the bracket up and out of the keyhole slots in the rear reinforcement panel.

  5. Disengage the electrical connector Connection Position Assurance (CPA) (1).

  6. Object Number: 827604  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the digital radio receiver (1).
  8. Disconnect the antenna connector (2).
  9. Remove the digital receiver and the bracket (1) from the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 800462  Size: SH
  11. Remove the nuts (1) securing the receiver bracket to the digital radio receiver.
  12. Remove the digital radio receiver from the receiver bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the digital radio receiver to the receiver bracket.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the nuts (1) to secure the receiver to the bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the digital receiver (1).
  6. Engage the electrical connector CPA.
  7. Connect the antenna connector (2) to the digital receiver (1).
  8. If removed, install the mounting bolts to the bracket 3 to 4 threads.

  9. Object Number: 827598  Size: SH
  10. Align the receiver and bracket assembly to the keyhole slots in the rear reinforcement, with the electrical connection end towards the rear compartment floor.
  11. Install the receiver mounting bolts (1) to the keyhole slots and slide the receiver and the bracket down.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (1) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  13. Install the left rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side in Body Rear End.
  14. Important: After replacement of an XM Radio receiver, call XM Radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle and activate the new XM Radio receiver.

    The vehicle must be parked outside in an open area within 24 hours after an activation call.

  15. Turn the radio on, tune to the XM channel 0, and record the radio ID from the radio.
  16. The ID will be needed for activation of the new receiver.

  17. Call XM Radio at 1-800-556-3600 to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.
  18. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
  19. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC (accessory) position and the radio on for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
  20. Once activated the radio will receive the remaining XM Radio channels.
