Blower Motor Inop On Initial Start Up

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment the blower motor does not turn on while the HVAC controls are set to auto. Further investigation would reveal that if the controls were switched to manual, then back to auto, the blower will begin working but the air delivery modes cannot be changed. The cause may be the mode door actuator is inoperative. The blower motor is not turned on until the mode actuator has moved to the floor position to run the purge mode routine on start up.

Test the mode door actuator operation using the Diagnostic Information and Procedures and repair as necessary.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
