Some vehicles may be unable to connect to OnStar® following a dropped cellular call during an OnStar® configuration attempt.
Important: If the vehicle is able to connect to OnStar®, or at any point during the attempt to contact OnStar® you receive a message other than "unable to contact OnStar®," this bulletin does not apply.
A dropped cellular call during a configuration attempt may prevent the vehicle module from sending or receiving cellular calls. You will have to reset the OnStar® Vehicle Communications and Interface Module to the Preferred System Setting in order to configure the vehicle.
If you hear any messages other than, or in addition to, "unable to contact OnStar®" or the call connects to the OnStar® Call Center anytime during the attempt, this bulletin will not apply. Refer to currently published Service Information in order to diagnose the vehicle.
Tech 2 software, version 21.006 or later, will be required to perform this reset. The Tech 2 software is currently available on the TIS 2000 version TIS 08/2001 data update or later.
