Subject: | Service VME -- Front Brake Moan at Low Speed Goes Away With Brakes Applied |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Some owners of 2002 Cadillac Sevilles may comment that they hear a moan noise from the front brakes at low speeds (under 20 mph) that goes away when the brakes are applied. This condition may be caused by caliper to bracket mounting pins that have high runout which causes the pads to touch the rotor at the outside diameter only. To repair this condition, replace the mounting pins (PN 18027442 leading pin, 18027443 trailing pin) which have improved runout capability. The new pins went into production April 4, 2002, at VIN 2U264162. This is John Woodrich Brand Quality Manager Cadillac Seville.
