J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 130638  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the suction hose retainer from the accumulator.

  3. Object Number: 284234  Size: SH
  4. Remove the suction hose from the accumulator.

  5. Object Number: 291167  Size: SH
  6. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the accumulator.

  7. Object Number: 130654  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the accumulator retainer.
  9. Remove the accumulator.

Installation Procedure

    Important: If replacing the accumulator, add the refrigerant oil to the accumulator. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities for system capacity information.

  1. Install the accumulator.
  2. Connect the accumulator retainer.
  3. Important: Inspect the evaporator hose sealing washer for damage.

    Replace the sealing washer if there are signs of damage.

    Sealing washer does not require lubricant.

  4. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the evaporator hose assembly retaining nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    Important: Inspect the suction hose sealing washer for damage.

    Replace the sealing washer if there are signs of damage.

    Sealing washer does not require lubricant.

  8. Install the suction hose to the accumulator.

  9. Object Number: 130638  Size: SH
  10. Install the suction hose retaining nut.
  11. Tighten the retaining nut.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  13. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400-A .
