Parking Brake Release Solenoid Replacement LHD
Removal Procedure
- Remove left closeout/insulator panel to access the park brake
lever assembly. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
- Pull back the carpet to expose the park brake cable and lever
assembly.
- Remove the park brake
lever assembly mounting nuts (1, 2).
- Position the park brake pedal assembly away from the mounting
studs.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the park brake warning lamp switch.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the automatic park brake release solenoid (2).
- Remove the automatic park brake release solenoid mounting bolt (1).
- Remove the automatic park brake release solenoid (2) from
the park brake lever assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the automatic
park brake release solenoid (2) to the park brake lever assembly.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the park
brake release solenoid mounting bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the automatic park brake release solenoid mounting bolt to 24 N·m
(18 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the automatic park brake release
solenoid (2).
- Connect the electrical
connector to the park brake warning lamp switch.
- Install the park brake
lever assembly to the mounting studs.
- Install the park brake lever assembly mounting nuts (1, 2).
Tighten
Tighten the park brake lever assembly mounting nut to 24 N·m
(18 lb ft).
- Reposition the carpet.
- Install the left colseout/insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side
in Instrument Panels,
Gages and Console.

Removal Procedure
- Remove right closeout/insulator panel to access the park brake
lever assembly. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panels, Gages and Console.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the park brake warning lamp switch.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the automatic park brake release solenoid (2).
- Remove the automatic park brake release solenoid mounting bolt (1).
- Remove the automatic park brake release solenoid (2) from
the park brake lever assembly.

park brake release solenoid (2) to the park brake lever assembly.

in Instrument Panels,
Gages and Console.
