Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Loosen the O-ring joint.

  3. Object Number: 284232  Size: SH
  4. Using the J 38042 , separate the tubing halves.
  5. Remove the expansion tube.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284232  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the O-ring with 525 refrigerant oil.
  2. Install the expansion tube.
  3. Connect the O-ring joint.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Tighten the dual O-ring joint.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the dual O-ring joint to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Reposition the tube to its original position.
  8. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  9. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or replaced component using J 39400-A .
