Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the HVAC Module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the mode actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  3. Remove the left temperature actuator screws.
  4. Remove the left temperature actuator.
  5. Remove the screws that retain the mode actuator bracket.
  6. Remove the mode actuator bracket.
  7. Remove the upper module case screws in order to access the door.
  8. Open the module.

  9. Object Number: 684429  Size: SH
  10. Remove the actuator cam from the door.
  11. Remove the defroster door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the defroster door.

  2. Object Number: 684429  Size: SH
  3. Install the actuator cam to the mode door.
  4. Close the module case.
  5. Install the module case screws.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  7. Install the left temperature actuator.
  8. Install the left temperature actuator screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  10. Install the mode actuator and bracket. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  11. Install the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
