Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Cover the ambient light sensor.
3. Open the I/P compartment door.

Does the I/P compartment lamp illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

1. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp.
2. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 12

Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and the glove box lamp control circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 6

1. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp switch.
2. Connect a 10 amp fused jumper wire between the glove box lamp control circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 10

Connect a 10 amp fused jumper wire between the glove box lamp control circuit and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

Inspect for poor connections at the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the glove box lamp control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 15

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 15

Repair an open or high resistance in the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 15

Replace the I/P compartment lamp switch.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 15

Replace the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
