Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side LHD

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

Tools Required

J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  4. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake cable connector (1).
  5. Disconnect the intermediate park brake cable (2) from the park brake cable connector (1)

  6. Object Number: 752029  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the rear equalizer (1).

  8. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  9. Using J 37043 depress the retaining tabs on the left park brake cable housing.
  10. Remove the left (2) park brake cable from the rear support mounting bracket.

  11. Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the left park brake cable from the park brake lever.
  13. Using J 37043 depress the retainer tabs on the left park brake cable.
  14. Remove the left park brake cable from the park brake caliper cable bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  1. Press the left park brake cable into the park brake caliper cable bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  2. Connect the left park brake cable to the park brake lever on the caliper.

  3. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  4. Press the left park brake cable into the rear support mounting bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.

  5. Object Number: 752029  Size: SH
  6. Connect the left park brake cable (2) to the equalizer (1).

  7. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  8. Connect the intermediate park brake cable (2) to the park brake cable connector (1)
  9. Install the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side RHD

Removal Procedure

  2. Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 106181  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the park brake cable adjuster (2) from thefront park brake cable.

  5. Object Number: 752029  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the rear equalizer (1).

  7. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  8. Using J 37043 depress the retaining tabs on the left park brake cable housing.
  9. Remove the left (2) park brake cable from the rear support mounting bracket.

  10. Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the left park brake cable from the park brake lever.
  12. UsingJ 37043 depress the retainer tabs on the left park brake cable.
  13. Remove the left park brake cable from the park brake caliper cable bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  1. Press the left park brake cable into the park brake caliper cable bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  2. Connect the left park brake cable to the park brake lever on the caliper.

  3. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  4. Press the left park brake cable into the rear support mounting bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.

  5. Object Number: 752029  Size: SH
  6. Connect the left park brake cable (2) to the equalizer (1).
  7. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  8. Install the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
